Mediation and Exercise

Mediation And Exercise (January 25, 2009)

I was asked one fine day, on the difference between Yoga and Pilates.

Well I'm actually no big fan of either interest but I do know that Pilates originated from a German named Joseph Pilates who believed in muscle control and his creation was used to help in the rehabilitation of wartime soldiers returning from World War I.

Pilates strives on the physical state of the body; whereas Yoga is spiritual.

While Pilates focuses on the stretching, flexibility and the potential physical powerness of our human body, Yoga stems well into the factoring of mind over body, with religious roots galore.

It could be said that Yoga belongs to the East, and Pilates the West.

Yoga simplified as Meditation, Pilates as an Exercise of the body.

Let's not read too deep into it and confuse ourselves.
