Temptation Of A Chocolate Bar (May 8, 2010)
A child was made to sit in a room with a chocolate bar placed in front of him. He was told that he would be allowed to have that chocolate as a reward if he could keep his hands off it for 30 minutes.
After just 10 minutes the child gave up and ate the chocolate bar.
This shows that a child lacks Self-Control. Ironically, Adults behave in that manner too.
Adults are thought to be able to curb this aspect as they grow up. However, I have seen adults who behave like the child who couldn't resist the temptation and ate the chocolate bar.
And so there are adults who behave like 3-year-old kids.
However, if you placed a million dollars in front of an adult and offer it as a reward for that same amount of time, the adult would be able to practice self-control. But if we understand the logic that a young child would not be able to differentiate the value between a chocolate bar and a million dollars, we may realise a crucial point.
That that child should be spanked on his buttocks for not having self-control, and should be educated morally.
And how about the adult who practises self-control for a million dollars?
Of course, an innocent child knows that that a chocolate bar can be eaten and be satisfied with it instead of having a million dollars.
Most people are missing that point.
(I had interpreted his story from one of my long-time friend.)
